I Know that! Have you looked in the mirror?

How many times have we heard something and I thought I’ve heard that or I know that?  My question to you is what are you doing with what you know?  Have you used the knowledge that you’ve acquired or are you just storing about a bunch of knowledge that’s not helping anybody.  You can know that there are dirty dishes in the sink but that knowledge in itself will not get them clean.  You can know that you need to pay your bills but just that knowledge alone won’t get them paid.

 James 1:19-25 NLT

19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

When we look in the mirror, like James talks about, we get a glimpse of what we need to do.  The Word of God is our mirror.  When we see instructions we need to obey them in order to get Bible results.  Our knowledge alone of the word will not make us victorious.  What makes us victorious is the Word that we act upon.  How many times do we hear a message and then walk away never to think about it again?  The Word seed that was just planted needs to be watered that means we need to meditate and act on what we learn.  We can’t improve our appearance unless we take action using the Word that we know.

Look at the word “message” in verse 21 and 22.  It says that God has put this message in our hearts meaning our spirit man and it is strong enough to save our souls (mind, will and emotions)

How many times have you heard or said yourself “ I know that But…” and then give the excuse for not doing whatever it is you know.   I know its wrong to lie BUT…  I know I really shouldn’t say this BUT I couldn’t help it.  We need to be doers of what we know is right and not push the message aside.
