Growing along spiritual lines.

The point is, that we are willing to grow along spiritual lines.  Alcoholics Anonymous pg 60

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.       Colossians 2:6-7

I thank you Father for this beautiful day you have made.  I thank you for the willingness to continue to grow everyday more and more into your likeness. As I go through today, I will let my thoughts and actions be rooted in you.  I thank you for the opportunity to strengthen my faith through your Word and be filled with an attitude of gratitude.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. I remember when I learned this, I was 1-2 years sober and contemplating suicide…what is the point of living if I continually feel bad? Heard ‘the point is we are willing to grow along spiritual lines’ explained at a meeting-has to be done everyday. So I purposed to do that…everyday. Remarkable changes in attitude and outlook began to happen. Looking back, I don’t know why I fought against letting God help for so long!

  2. Thanks for your Blog Cheryl!! I went to rehab the first time and things just didn’t click. Then I got out of rehab and started going to meetings regularly. Little by little, as I sat quietly and listened, the part of the program about needing the help of a higher power started to sink into my head. I was desperate and in need of a miracle when I went into rehab the second time and I decided to PRAY PRAY PRAY this time because I had finally realized I couldn’t get sober on my own power. I have been sober for 20 months and feel like admitting to God that I was weak and allowing God to help me has made all the difference in the world. …Lori

    • Congratulations on 20 months, Lori! You know that slogan that says Think, Think Think ? My husband has turned that around like you and says Pray Pray Pray. It took awhile for me to know and understand that Lack of power was my dilemma and that I must seek God and grow spiritually everyday. Thank you for sharing with me. You are a blessing!
