What are you waiting for?

“A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 24:45-51 NLT

I really like this parable and believe its soooo relevant to today’s generation. I’ve heard so many people say “well I’m going to have fun now. I will serve God later or when I get older. The implication is that when you decide to live for God you will stop enjoying life. What a deception. Living God’s way saves us not only from eternal fire but from the pains of sin today. A parent tells their child not to touch a hot flame because it will burn them not because they are withholding fun from them or punishing them. God tells us not to lie, cheat, steal ,etc.. because it will hurt us not because He is withholding good from us or punishing us. Today is the day to serve the Lord. It’s not ok to put it off or think I’ll serve him later. Jesus will be back and when He comes it will be unannounced. Will he find us faithful or will He find us in self-indulgence thinking that we had more time?
